Art Show is a Fantastic Success

(May 30, 2012)
The Kenn Art Show was held in the Kenn Centre on 23rd - 25th March.  Forty-five artists,  both amateur and professional, took part and the show was of a very high standard.   There were also craft stalls with pottery,  jewellery, sculpture, stained glass and woodturning - so plenty of variety.
The Show was opened by the artist Mike McDonald at an evening reception on Friday 23rd.  Wine flowed,  canapes were eaten and the first red dots appeared on the sold items.   A good evening with many there.   The rest of the weekend was busy,  particularly the Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon and the stewards were kept on their toes.   Angela Brown won the bottle of champagne for the favourite picture in the show,  with her beautiful ' Floral History of Hedge and Field' .   We were extremely grateful to Ray Balkwill who donated a print of 'Wet Sands, St. Ives' as a draw prize,  which was won by Kate Richardson.
This year we were supporting The Kenn Centre and St. Andrew's Church and we were able to donate £850 to each of them.   This is entirely thanks to everyone who supported the show and helped in so many ways with putting up screens, making canapes, stewarding, hanging pictures, putting up craft stalls and many other tasks.   Thank you.
